Would you like to make your PeerTube accounts and videos more visible? Do you want to reach more viewers and more followers?
I've done a guide to promoting your PeerTube accounts, channels and videos at:
➡
️ https://fedi.tips/how-to-promote-your-peertube-videos-account-and-channels
I've tried to list everything I could think of, let me know if I've missed anything! 🙂

In case you missed it buried in the replies, I've done a guide to using Mastodon's new quoting feature:
➡
️ https://fedi.tips/why-cant-i-quote-other-posts-in-mastodon
The guide covers how to quote, how to consent to being quoted, how to go back to single-click boosts etc and answers lots more quoting-related questions.

Another nice feature on the Mastodon 4.5.0 update: more emoji! If you click the picker in the web interface you should see a lot more emoji to choose from.
There is now for example 🦣
which is a lot closer to a mastodon than 🐘
If there are emoji you want that still aren't there, ask your server admin to add them as custom emoji (more info about custom emoji: https://fedi.tips/what-are-custom-emoji-how-do-i-access-them-can-i-add-new-ones/).

It depends on whether B's server respects the blocking request.
I just did a test block between two accounts I have on two different Mastodon servers. Both the servers are well-run and respect block requests.
The block prevented me seeing any of the posts from the account that blocked me, so I couldn't respond to them.
However, if a server is running a different kind of software, or if it has been customised to not respect blocks, trolls may be able to respond.

If someone is deliberately evading block requests, you can ask your server admin to do a server-level block of the offending account (or server if it's helping them evade blocks) which will prevent anyone on your server seeing them.
You might also want to ask your server to switch on a feature called "authorized fetch / secure mode" which makes all kinds of blocks much more effective. There is info for admins on how to activate it at https://fedi.tips/authorized-fetch/

Mastodon's new server software (v4.5.0) brings a breakthrough for smaller servers:
No matter which server you are on, all replies to all discussion threads are automatically fetched as soon as you browse a discussion. It doesn't matter which server you are on or which server they are on, you will all see the same complete discussion. (Unless a user or server is banned of course.)
If you've previously held back, this is a great time to try smaller servers:

p.s. You will only see these features if your server has updated to 4.5.0, you can check your server's version by going to its website and (if you're on a computer) looking in the bottom left corner or (if you're on a phone) clicking ☰ in bottom right corner, selecting "About" and then scrolling to bottom of screen.
Some apps may not yet have these features as they've only just been released a few hours ago.
You can choose if you want a post quoted or not in its visibility settings.
p.p.s. I've updated the quoting guide on fedi.tips so it now tells people how to quote, how to write posts that can be quoted, and answers common questions aboout the quoting feature:

Okay, bonus post today! Mastodon v4.5.0 has just been released! 🥳
This brings many improvements, most significantly:
- Fetch all replies, threads are now the same for everyone no matter which server they are on. If new replies are detected in the thread you're viewing, a box will appear that lets you load them automatically.
- Quote toots, click 🔁
boost on a post and select "Quote" to use it. If the option isn't clickable, it means the person or server hasn't given permission to be quoted.

They don't all do this, some have instant signups and others have manually approved.
I'm asking as there were some really nasty trolls who joined recently and it brought up the debate over whether sign-ups should be instant or not.
It would be nice to find out if there are ways to make screened sign-ups easier for people who currently find them difficult 🙂
There are two ways that servers on here can accept new members:
-Sign-ups where you join instantly
-Sign-ups where the server moderator has to manually approve your membership
Approval sign-ups make moderation much more effective, but some people seem to find them more difficult.
If you are someone who finds approval sign-ups more difficult, could you explain the main thing putting you off?
(By the way, this isn't meant to be judgmental, just want to find out what the main barriers are! 🙂
