So I’m wearing my miniskirt on the train and wishing I had my tattoo on the backs of my thighs of the cute bow tie with a line going down to my knee like a silk stocking seam.
I talked about that here and someone dropped into my mentions with an angry post about “no it’s not 1950 anymore” and another was like “eww the war is over” and…
I hate to admit that shit got to me. Like I didn’t get it because I was like “well I guess they’re right.” And how fucked up is that?
@FinalGirl@blackqueer.life I'm so sorry these 2nd-wavers won't stay out of your business. That sounds so cute and sexy, and also it being a tattoo makes it punk bc it's not like women in the 1950s were getting sexy tattoos under their miniskirts like…I wish they would stop policing harmless stuff like this and use that energy more helpfully. But all people like that ever wanted was to be the person controlling others, not to free anyone from control (including themselves).
Like, yeah, I know it’s slutty. Yeah, I know it’s throwback. And yeah, I know we don’t have to wear them and have non-silk stockings now.
But that’s the problem with white second-leave feminist thinking. “I don’t like this so you shouldn’t either” is just shitty cultural evangelism.
And I fell for that shit. I hate how you constantly have to fight that shit.
Slutty and throwback is the fucking reason I want it. If you don’t like that then fine don’t get it on your fucking body.

And the worst part is there’s this whole assumption of ignorance. Like white feminists will be all “you just don’t know how it really is” and “you’re just being a shill for the male gaze” as if any expression of sexual femininity is bad.
As if generations of post-second-wave feminist have not burnt that shit to the ground already. 🙄

@FinalGirl@blackqueer.life my MIL gets pretty upset when I wear femme clothes like I'm trying to force femininity back into the box she worked so hard to escape from. And my mom has more than a couple times "warned" me that I might not understand how others view me in that outfit. As if I haven't been swimming in modern gender theory for a few decades myself and as the person I am have a pretty hyper aware sense of how others are seeing me and maybe I'm deliberately choosing my dress for not just myself but because I'm visible to others as well.
Always turn to the sluts and the sex workers. They know gender theory. All the white feminists know is repackaged white patriarchy.
@FinalGirl@blackqueer.life
It's always revealing to watch "feminists" tell women what to do with Their bodies.
@storybead@chaosfem.tw exactly this. It’s so fucking frustrating. And a goddamn generation of Black and Latina feminists called that shit out like “Bitch you think we ain’t aware of people judging us? Step the fuck off.”
But they didn’t read anything beyond “burn your bra.”
@FinalGirl@blackqueer.life @storybead@chaosfem.tw The idea that choosing an expression is forcing anything on anyone is bonkers. And even worse: these incurious bigots don't even bother questioning why dressing in "gender neutral" styles is basically wearing masculine styles as if they are the default....almost like the feminine was a second sex...I think someone maybe should write a feminist book about that... 😡
@JoscelynTransient@chaosfem.tw @FinalGirl@blackqueer.life the idea that choosing an expression is forcing anything on anyone else is kind of one of the underpinnings of second wave. I mean, more precisely, rejecting an expression would somehow force something on everyone, but pot-ay-to/pot-ah-to.
@storybead@chaosfem.tw @FinalGirl@blackqueer.life Ugh, yeah. It's the same kind of nonsense with "feminists" telling hijabis they need to take off their headscarfs to be free and that's the primary oppression they face. Can we just stop policing women's bodies and doing the work of the patriarchy for them? Please?
