And the worst part is there’s this whole assumption of ignorance. Like white feminists will be all “you just don’t know how it really is” and “you’re just being a shill for the male gaze” as if any expression of sexual femininity is bad.

@FinalGirl@blackqueer.life my MIL gets pretty upset when I wear femme clothes like I'm trying to force femininity back into the box she worked so hard to escape from. And my mom has more than a couple times "warned" me that I might not understand how others view me in that outfit. As if I haven't been swimming in modern gender theory for a few decades myself and as the person I am have a pretty hyper aware sense of how others are seeing me and maybe I'm deliberately choosing my dress for not just myself but because I'm visible to others as well.
