It’s truly amazing to me that Panera has made an empire out of sandwiches that I feel a child can make

@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io You're using the wrong measurement scale / units. Compare it to McDonald's.

Sorry this is me having Panera today for the first time and then immediately having to have a taco to wash it away

@jbaggs@infosec.exchange McDonalds is better. Lol

@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io Hey. I will cop to an egg mcmuffin now and then.

There's a certain (rather bland) "American" taste palate a lot of these places cater to though.

@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io I swear Panera must do something to their cooked food to make it taste so bland. It's weird. Unless you just need a kid-friendly place to use wifi, with filling bread, free drink refills and clean bathrooms, then it's fine.

Personally, I like to think that Panera is a restaurant built for those that miss cafeteria lunches.

@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io Seriously though, the "empire" was created through firstly being consistent.

You walk into a Panera, and it is always exactly the same, no matter where in the US you are.

Secondly, just a bit outside of bland Midwestern standards to feel a bit "different". Not
too far though.

Thirdly: Marketing.
