Good very rainy Tuesday morning. Sleep was good to me last night, thankfully. Now just revving up for the day, thinking it might be more or less a quiet day with my books and my coffee.
Iβm in need of an emotional reset. Although the feellings of existential dread are always near at hand, Iβve been doing a pretty good job of not landing smack in the middle of them as of late. Not so much today. #DC is being taken over as basically a performative maneuver. It cannot lead to anything good. Iβve asked this question many, many times over the past several months. Why arenβt more people out inthe streets? There have been pretty impressive protests, but right now they feel like one-off events. I feel like itβs time for some sixties-style #CivilDisobedience and just messing with the status quo, because the status quo really sucks right now. If I could put my body on the line, I would. Iβll do what I can with my keyboard and my words. Right now Iβm going to say something that I heard countless times when Barack #Obama was president. I hated hearing it then, but now Iβm really feeling it. I want my country back!
Good advice for todayβs times. Stop making it so easy for the regime. https://mstdn.social/@_L1vY_/115013538751127875
Just wanted to shout out my appreciation to all of you who describe their #Caturday photos. As a cat lover who canβt see the photos themselves, it allows me and those like me to participate in the cuteness. And, these days, cuteness is very much needed.
#CurrentlyReading In more light reading news, Iβm now reading Jaws. Earlier this summer I noticed some talk about the 50th anniversary of the movie, so I figured Iβd read the book and then watch the movie. Bookβs okay so far but I donβt think Iβve hit the meat of it yet.
#CurrentlyReading Yesterday I began the book Disposable, by Sarah Jones. It focuses on how the #COVID pandemic laid bare the inequality in America, and how those lower in the pecking order are viewed as disposable. Unfortunately, it is revving up my anger at how so many never took the pandemic seriously, or thought personal freedom was more important, or, in my mind worst of all, thinking people should be willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the economy. COVID is never going away, but in society today itβs now a deep, distant memory. And what if, God forbid, we find ourselves looking at another pandemic? With the current folks in charge, I could totally see them not acknowledging that a pandemic even exists. Oh whatever, serenity prayer, serenity prayer, serenity prayerβ¦

Curious if anyone have even tried anchovies on pizza? I never have, though Iβve heard itβs a terrible topping for probably over 40 years. https://mastodon.online/@pseudonym/114996032896039994
