Some scammers are pretending to be Mastodon admins and asking people to "verify" their accounts by clicking on a link, which then asks for their card details or other sensitive info.
DO NOT CLICK THE SCAM LINK!
GENUINE MASTODON ADMINS WILL NEVER ASK YOU TO VERIFY!
There is a real verification system on Mastodon, but it's entirely optional and does not involve credit cards. Genuine verification is voluntary and based on website ownership.

To tell people "Don't click on links" doesn't help. You would have to explain, which links they should and which they should not click.

No, I don't think so, but this way you can basically focus on updating the page and have it be evergreen. I was thinking of the new users that maybe don't federate with everyone yet so might not even see your account. Could be good for us old hats too to see what we missed if we're offline. @FediTips@social.growyourown.services
