Another giant introduction
Hi everyone! I don't know what happened to my pinned introduction, so here is a somewhat new one.
I've been here in the Fedi since 2017. You can listen to an interview at the link below.
I'm a blind and gay writer. I keep a blog. I call it my soul on the internet because you wonβt get the same thing every time. I write huge rants. I write short narrative stories about eating ice cream like it's the first time I'm having an orgasm. I write lyrical musings about crying in the shower. I pen essays about battling with a smart fridge. You'll never get just one thing with me and my website.
As for fiction, I write M/M Romance featuring blind and or disabled people, because disabled people deserve happy endings too. My romances generally always have a HEA instead of an HFN. I'm not the best with series. I also tend to enjoy doing novellas rather than full length novels, but I do novels as well. It's just that novellas are my comfort zone.
My Romances are quite angsty. They ask a lot of questions of the reader, and they feature things I'm extremely proud of, like in my young adult Romances I feature things like supportive gay dads to a teenager. I don't shy away from potentially triggering subjects because it mirrors my own life.
That being said, if you don't like angsty Romances, I'm probably not your author but I also pen happy Romances too, like one I just finished where a Chef that's lost his sense of taste falls in love with a Blind taste tester because of a job he put out onto the internet. I love exploring dynamics such as that in a very slow, character centric, way.
My blog/website has everything about me. It's the best way to get inside of my head. I don't use video based spaces often because I'm blind so video spaces really don't interest me.
My blog is also a podcast for folks that prefer listening to reading.
I listen to podcasts religiously, especially fiction podcasts. Podcast audiobooks. Fiction audio dramas. All kinds of fiction podcasts.
I'm an audiobook reader.
I love reading character driven stories.
Some additional things that bring me profound joy.
Boy bands. Anime. Video games. Nerd media. Cookies. Video game music. Chocolate. Ice cream. Cats. Listening to audio only letβs Plays via podcasts. Cookies. Yes, I said it twice! That's how much I love them!
I rarely wear clothes that match. I wear things for comfort. Fabrics that feel good to me.
I take extensive social media breaks, especially in the summer/fall time because that's when I'm doing events, hanging out with offline people, and terrorizing my local town.
I'm huge into local activism and local change because I believe that all local progress, especially on a mass scale, will cause national politics to buck up and maybe actually do things for its voter base.
I'm a tech geek that hates everything tech culture. I also hate everything hustle culture. Influencer culture. Bletch.

I had no choice but to make a #Patreon again because everyone uses it. Since I write erotica sometimes, I started their NSFW process for verification. Itβs a nightmare. I have digital copies of my ID but they do not take uploaded documents. Thatβs why my revived page is in a perpetual limbo. UGG. Does anyone know if the screen share with Aira works if background refresh is disabled?
Is there a fork of #Enafore that's updated? I get it that everyone here in the Fedi is basically volunteering, but Pinafore, now Enafore, and all the other good front ends to Mastodon have stopped updating. I know #Phanpy is good for sighted folks. Not us. If the web UI were better, I wouldn't have a problem with this. #Fediverse

SubToot about the idea to brick or trick LLMβs by sabotaging and mangling alt text.
So why am I not at all surprised that non-disabled people would use AI as an excuse not to describe anything via alt text and or purposefully mangle alt text to break an LLM? It honestly really shows how just careless and lack in knowledge about AI overall a lot of people are if they think mangling alt text will stop an LLM. Also, tell me you donβt have any disabled friends without telling me you donβt have any disabled friends. #Ableism #AI #AIHype
I was reading #AI output because people canβt help themselves I guess, and I suddenly thought Jesus fuck, this sounds like a man. And then, it hit me. Every large language model Iβve encountered sounded like a cis hetero man on the internet.
Rant. I actually hate accessibility consulting.
Maybe I don't quite hate it all, but I do hate talking with managers, marketing people, people not in web development about accessibility issues on websites because, usually, the conversations always go something like this.
Me. This complaint checks out. You need to do this and that and this to make it accessible.
Manager. But why isn't our accessible AI tool working?
Me. Because AI doesnβt understand your website and it wonβt work anyway if someone is on a shit connection and the javascript wonβt load.
Marketer. But then maybe the person needs to upgrade their internet.
Manager. Maybe the screen readerβs broken. Have they added AI to screen readers yet? That will fix everything. why doesnβt NVDA have AI yet? If NVDA had AI, we wouldn't need to worry about this.
Marketer. Did you try tabbing? I noticed you weren't tabbing at all, did you try that?
Me, internally. That's fucking it! You all deserve to be sued.
Today was the first day I thought about turning to the accessibility dark side and actually just becoming a plaintif in all these ADA lawsuits, because this level of, our website isn't the problem, when it clearly is, is getting on my last fucking nerves.
It's always managers and marketing people that are the first to ask, well, why doesnβt JAWS have AI yet? Why doesnβt NVDA just compensate for our shit web design?
Oh don't get me wrong, developers and I have had our share of, why do I need to use HTML? That's so 1980! Battles. You know, HTML can label a button, you don't need to use ARIA for that. Developer. But ARIA is richer! HTML is boomer technology!
Me, screaming internally. I hate you all!
But I'm getting more and more of these kinds of clients and so, like, I can fully understand why you'd join these law firms as a plaintiff and just going to town with demand letters and such, because this shit is maddening!
The best accessibility conversations I've had have been with developers. Not all the time, but more than not, they get it more than the dipshits in marketing and management.
My other alternative is I think everyone in marketing needs to take a mandatory web development class, and pass, and have a certificate.
