So, the last time Tim Cook bribed Trump (with a $1M donation to his inauguration fund) the Apple tech bros kept telling us that was a personal donation from Cook, not from Apple the company.
What's their line of defense gonna be now that the bribe has a big ass Apple logo on it?

@nileane@nileane.fr This was not a donation from Apple the company. It was a donation from the shareholders of Apple the company. Many of these shareholders are actually through retirement and other funds. This donation will benefit Apple and some of its shareholders. (Just not those "many" shareholders I just mentioned.)
Also something about the executives of a Company being legally bound to perform any action, no matter how execrable, in order to advance the interests of "The Company".

Apple fanbois, it's time to admit that Apple is exactly as bad as the rest of Silicon Valley's big tech companies. Fascism looks profitable, so it's fine with them!

@nileane@nileane.fr My favorite thing is how trivially obvious it is how to bribe the 'leader of the free world'. Put his name on it, plate it in gold and say it's thanks to him such and such, and the US will do whatever you want.
@nileane@nileane.fr Well, I'm pretty happy that I sold my Macbook and iPhone now tbh (replaced with Linux and Android).
Gross.
@nileane@nileane.fr Apple has experience in operating in bribe-driven countries like China. So bribing the Trump regime to avoid tariffs on iPhones is part of doing business. Trump is a despote for a banana republic so every company has to pay their bribes to the regime in orde rto avoir the regime retaliating and causing company proplems.
@nileane@nileane.fr @marcoarment@mastodon.social Guilty as charged, and now chagrined. He absolutely didn't need to do this.
@cazabon@mindly.social @nileane@nileane.fr For several years, I've been moving away from #bigtech ... Except #apple . I was still convincing myself that they were still OK, that convenience had a price, ...
That was until:
- I lost several purchases bought from Apple (purchasing is definitely not owning).
- Their so called "advanced data protection" miserably failed during my setup, corrupting ALL my emails, photos and documents. On THEIR cloud! Without my backups, I would have lost almost all my digital "life". That escalated up to their "Executive Liaison" people. I should have sued them!
- And now this?
Don't they have enough billions to show a minimum of decency?

They'll do anything to please the "line goes up forever" market "analysts".
