@gocu54@caneandable.social maybe you'd be willing to explain your comment via a vis the post? What, exactly, are you suggesting. More details please.
@deepmud@mas.to It's simple. This man who murdered another man in cold blood in broad daylight isn't a hero. He's a murderer.
@gocu54@caneandable.social @deepmud@mas.to
and now please provide your #moral judgment on a "#healthcare" system that creates suffering, impoverishment and death... for profit
i am not condoning luigi's behavior
but if you don't understand the inevitable consequences of such a "healthcare" system, you are a fool
if i tell you that by driving drunk you will hit a tree and die, am i trying to kill you?
or am i warning you
and what would you say of a person, a society, that does not heed such an obvious warning?
@benroyce@mastodon.social @deepmud@mas.to I'm not interested in the arguments as to why this man deserved to die in your eyes. It simply plays no part in this. If you want to worship a killer, that's your business, not mine.
@gocu54@caneandable.social we generally like skillers. π
We don't approve of murder. But we should consider the reasons. Evidently, you're of the right wing bent that is rigidly opposed to even consider other points of view.
This does not make you an intellectual.
@deepmud@mas.to i'm neither left or right wing. I just disapprove of killing another person for reasons that amount to he's rich so he should die.
@gocu54@caneandable.social @deepmud@mas.to
i understand
and, in the terms of your own rationale, and as i asked you before, but you did not respond:
please provide your moral judgment on a "healthcare" system that creates suffering, impoverishment and death for profit
is there a reason why you speak with such high holy moral certainty, but you can't, or won't, speak on that?
it seems rather central to the topic here, no?
@benroyce@mastodon.social @deepmud@mas.to I don't think its right, but it doesn't give anyone the right to be the judge, jury, and executioner.
@gocu54@caneandable.social @deepmud@mas.to
"it doesn't give anyone the right to be the judge, jury, and executioner"
you're speaking of the "#healthcare" system that debilitates, bankrupts, and kills
for #profit
right?
i am not asking you to support #luigi
i am asking you, simply:
do you think there will never be pushback?
and if pushback through normal, legal means is stymied
by the parasites profiting here
via #corruption
do you think that pushback will just magically disappear?
please think on this:
@benroyce@mastodon.social @gocu54@caneandable.social @deepmud@mas.to I would like to think that itβs still possible to hold the belief that the United States #HealthCare system is an absolute disaster and the notion that taking another life is morally wrong at the same time without disonance. I am straight up against capital punishment, no exceptions. This includes both Luigi and the guy he gunned down. Iβve seen many of the rationalizations and they just donβt fly with me. I canβt help but think that it was just plain luck that someone else didnβt get hit along with the target. Maybe Iβm just a bleeding heart pacifist, but I canβt condone this as a righteous killing. No doubt he was a prick of the highest order, but as has already been said in this thread, nobody has the right to act as judge jury and executioner. Thatβs just capital punishment by other means.
@Thumper1964@mindly.social @gocu54@caneandable.social @deepmud@mas.to
agreeing with everything you say, is it possible luigis are inevitable in a system that debilitates, bankrupts, and kills people for profit?
in other words:
i am not asking you to celebrate luigi
i am asking to accept that luigis are inevitable
if peaceful change is blocked by corruption of our legislative process
again:
not asking you to cheer, just asking you to acknowledge it will happen (if peaceful change is blocked)
what do you say to that?
@benroyce@mastodon.social @gocu54@caneandable.social @deepmud@mas.to At this point, I have no argument against this. And, yes, I concede that we are clearly heading down the road where many more Luigis could potentially be produced. In fact, so much has changed in the past 3 months that, for me, it defies comprehension. Those who are now in power are gleefully upending any and all things that many of us once thought were sacrosanct. And nobody is throwing themselves on the gearsof the machinery to even slow it down. So, yes, I can see how a Luigi could happen, and how weβre probably in for a whole lot more of that in the near future. Every day, little by little, humanity is dying.

I've been following this thread, occasionally boosting Ben's posts. nobody is throwing themselves on the gears of the machinery to even slow it down.
But this gave me pause. Why or not can the same thinking be applied to rationalize events in #Gaza & #Palestine?

If we make a distinction between #McVeigh and #Mangione and say the latter deserves sympathy, we ought to make a distinction between #Hamas and #Palestinians, including children throwing rocks at #IDF.
It's not just the motive. The bias is towards who you empathize with.
