I am straight up against capital punishment, no exceptions. This includes both Luigi and the guy he gunned down. I’ve seen many of the rationalizations and they just don’t fly with me. I can’t help but think that it was just plain luck that someone else didn’t get hit along with the target. Maybe I’m just a bleeding heart pacifist, but I can’t condone this as a righteous killing. No doubt he was a prick of the highest order, but as has already been said in this thread, nobody has the right to act as judge jury and executioner. That’s just capital punishment by other means.

if peaceful change is blocked by corruption of our legislative process

And, yes, I concede that we are clearly heading down the road where many more Luigis could potentially be produced. In fact, so much has changed in the past 3 months that, for me, it defies comprehension. Those who are now in power are gleefully upending any and all things that many of us once thought were sacrosanct. And nobody is throwing themselves on the gearsof the machinery to even slow it down. So, yes, I can see how a Luigi could happen, and how we’re probably in for a whole lot more of that in the near future. Every day, little by little, humanity is dying.

If we make a distinction between #McVeigh and #Mangione and say the latter deserves sympathy, we ought to make a distinction between #Hamas and #Palestinians, including children throwing rocks at #IDF.
It's not just the motive. The bias is towards who you empathize with.
