we will avoid my opinion of all the various sports involving balls and a fascinating variety of what are really just sticks.

i was trying to explain my feelings about various exercise:

swimming: staying alive until you can get out of the water
running: only necessary if you're being chased by someone with a knife
cycling: fleeing person with a knife while using technology to improve speed
walking: conceding you're too old to run away from the person with a knife

personally, one of the reasons i read a wide range of books is exactly
because i have to try to understand the context, moral grid, societal expectations. it's most noticable in SF but i love soaking in a period of world history via a compelling story.

if you didn't watch the latest John Oliver and his segment on Schumer and "the Baileys", Chuck's imaginary voters that he says guide all his political decisions.

i think the entire senior DNC need to watch to this segment and stop thinking they get actual, live, real voters.

saw an interesting recipe for pasta ai funghi, so tried it tonight with penne. and a negroni, since it's definitely been a Monday. the fish sauce was subtle but i think it helps.

recipe here:

AP RSS feed has "Trump is promising new steps to tackle homelessness and crime in DC". really?

more like "Trump activates military to target the helpless, pandering to his fascist/racist base"...

found a book you would probably enjoy. the perfect edge, by ron hock. goes into metallurgy, how blades actual cut wood, blade angles, types of abrasives, etc.

i'm just starting into it but it's got a huge amount of info and i thought of you.

my partner grew up on Paros (a greek island). one food speciality from paros/anti-paros is sun/salt cured mackeral, called gouna, which is then grilled. it loses a bit of the oilier taste, takes on a bit of smoky flavor, and is insanely tasty and filling. a quarter filet will fill you up.

we got some nice mackeral, so going to see if CO sun works. we do have some paros oregano and salt, so optimistic.
