North Eastern Railway Electric Shunter 1. Built in 1905, it looks a lot more modern, especially with the centred cabinβ¦

This train museum has everything! Iβve found a deck chair the right size for me!

This is the first trip in a while where I havenβt had to change my iPhone lock screen to have a quick access button to Google Translate.
Then again, Iβm off to Scotland this afternoonβ¦
So, Iβll be heading up to Glasgow tomorrow, via Edinburgh. The friend I am staying with rightly points out that not only is the Fringe on, but that Iβll be able to grab tickets for https://www.edfringe.com/tickets/whats-on/terry-pratchett-s-monstrous-regiment on the way to see them.
Sounds like a great idea!
@quixoticgeek@social.v.st well, actually, what they are doing is recontextualising your toots in a manner that allows the world to know that they actually didnβt understand who you are or why you say what you said, whilst leaving them feeling like they have righted an incorrect opinion by a misguided person on the internet. Please keep that in mind when you next think of applying such a generalisation to such wonderful members of the internet proletariat. They really are trying to do you a favour.
(In case it is needed: that post was very much typed with tongue in cheekβ¦ literally, as Iβm chewing on one of the end pieces of my spectacles, and itβs pushing my tongue there)
And Iβve been Bahned (or rather, according to the earlier poll, Nationally Railed) in Darlington, where the Train manager made an announcement about 5 minutes out saying the train will terminate here. Weβre now waiting for the next train on the same platform, which is about 5 minutes away, which will continue on to Glasgow via Durham and Newcastle.
β¦oh, wait, weβre now doing a mass move to platform 1
And I finally made it to Durham!
Now to spend the evening with family, likely explaining what #JetLagTheGame and #Interrail are all aboutβ¦
And from Birmingham to Durham, I am taking a class 220 Cross Country DMU. Itβs somewhat stunted, with only 4 out of the 6 cars, and no catering car, but otherwise seems to be powering along nicely.
First class is comfy, but the 2-person side of the 2+1 configuration is staggered differently to the windows. Also, the overhead racks are barely large enough to fit my backpack onto, and there is very little luggage space.
On the upside, there is a wheelchair space in First Claas, which is far from commonplace.

Brum, I was (briefly) in you!
