The infuriating and stupid public transport slogan β€œSee it, Say it, Sorted” is far better in Latin. Translated with the correct grammar, imperatives and participle, it comes out as the wonderfully appropriate: Vide, Dic, Rectum. (The Oldie)

Last month, the European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen signed a treaty with Trump. The details are truly embarrassing. US goods will be exported to Europe tariff-free, but European exports to the US will be slapped with a 15% levy. Europe even threw in a promise of $600bn in fresh investments into the US economy and to buy $750bn of US oil and gas by the end of 2028. Von der Leyen has overlooked the β€œkey lesson” from Trump’s first term: never make promises you can’t deliver.

After relocating more than 15,000 individual animals and plants, and breeding more than 12,000 species for release into the wild, rare animals – including water voles, willow tits, hawksbeard mining bees and chough chicks – have returned to areas where they haven’t been seen for generations.

A study has suggested that blowing into a conch shell could help tackle the symptoms of sleep apnoea. The practice – known in India as Shankh blowing β€“ could improve sleep and breathing, according to research conducted by Indian doctors. Conch blowing involves taking a deep breath before a forceful exhalation through the shell’s narrow opening, producing a loud tooting noise. Researchers believe this muscle engagement helps prevent airway collapse during sleep.
