The number of people who have crossed the Channel on small boats since Labour took office last July is expected to pass 50,000 today. The milestone comes just 401 days into Keir Starmerβs premiership, compared to 603 for Rishi Sunak and 1,066 for Boris Johnson.
@kibcol1049@mstdn.social well, I'm not a massive racist so immigration doesn't bother me like the creeping Fascism in our lives does.
I don't believe that ALL refugees are rapists just like I don't believe ALL trans people are rapists.
I'll tell you who is a rapist though,.....the American President. And our Prime Minister has no problems with him.
@Lazarou@mastodon.social The point of my post was just to highlight how badly Labour have done in their attempts to reduce the numbers as they stated. No agenda about immigration etc.

Labour would have been better off spending money on some public services or doing something else to simply distract folk from the small boat crossings (which in reality only have a limited impact on some areas of Kent, as its the closest place for these vessels to reach the UK coasts.
Immigration (legal or otherwise) is nothing new, but folk weren't whinging about it half as much when the economy was in a better state and they had a slightly better quality of life..
It's almost as if Labour wants people spending their energy getting angry at small boats rather than, say, deciding they need to join trade unions or something.
