I don't require ideological purity from the candidates I vote for. Many I'll disagree with.
But I still require the well known quote from Robert Jones Jr.
"We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist."
We can argue about tax policy or agriculture bills or even the correct role of government involvement in healthcare and housing. But human rights are simply non-negotiable.
All of my toots are licensed by whatever the opposite of Creative Commons is. Share them wherever you like, but especially if it's somewhere public, don't attribute to me and crop out my name and photo. Most of my toots self destruct already, and I don't post for fame our clout. Frankly, if I ever start getting people in meatspace saying "Oh, I saw your post on Facebook", I'm burning this whole account to the ground and salting the earth.
This account is officially covered by the Olivia Hill Rule, lightly edited to apply to a social media account:
NO FASCISTS
If youβre a fascist, youβre not welcome to read, comment, boost, or otherwise interact with this account. Itβs against the rules. If youβre reading this and thinking, βYou just call everyone you disagree with a fascist,β then youβre probably a fascist, or incapable of drawing inferences from context and acknowledging a dangerous political climate that causes the oppressed to be hyperbolic. Donβt interact with this account. Heal yourself. Grow. Learn. Watch some Mr. Rogersβ Neighborhood or something.
If you find yourself unable to follow this rule, please comment on this post so I can more easily find your account and block you.

Updated #introduction
Hey, I'm Jess!
I'm #queer, #lesbian, #nerd, #adhd, #autistic, #cptsd and #trans
I do cybersecurity stuff for large corporations for money to pay for food and rent.
I do things to try and make the world a little bit less shitty for people because I want to.
For some words of wisdom:
In a cruel and fucked up world, choosing to be kind to other people is the most subversive thing you can do.
Here's to all the open source developers who put hours and hours of their lives into a project they built, put it out into the world, and now it sits with approximately zero users.
Thank you for putting labor into the world to try and help others, even if it's never been recognized.
Brag about your project here if you'd like!
Edit: if you saw this earlier, come back and check out all the cool projects people have shown off since!
Sci Fi and fantasy universes be like "every creature is male unless it has boobs"
A lesser known Mastodon pro tip:
Want to mute a conversation, but the mute conversation button isn't appearing on the post?
The only way you can mute a conversation is on a post you have made in the conversation.
But the secret part - Say you want to mute it without actually participating in the conversation:
Reply to a post, set the visibility to "Private Mention", remove everyone's username from the post. Post it.
Then you can click "mute conversation" on THAT post, and it silently mutes you from the conversation.

So we've put 19 agencies, a total of 1450 federal officers patrolling DC hunting for crime, and since late last week, they've managed ... Drum roll please ... 103 arrests. Total. With zero reason to believe that all those arrests couldn't have also been handled just fine by the DC police....
Like I get that this is a frightening and dangerous escalation of this authoritarian regime. But wow ...
Though I'm kinda terrified that if they don't get enough arrests for actual crimes, they'll just start making up crimes for people to be guilty of to justify their presence.
There have been 103 total arrests, with 43 occurring on Tuesday night β almost double the amount reported on Monday. Zoom out: 19 multi-agency teams are spread across the city as part of the takeover, says the official.1,450 people were patrolling the city on Tuesday night, including 750 D.C. police members and 30 National Guard troops.

One of the few things I'm pleased about with the Trump invasion of DC is that most news articles about it do also clearly state how there is no crime wave. In fact crime is at historic lows. They're not doing their normal "well both sides have a point" nonsense.
If you're in the US and have kids under 5 who need another COVID vaccine, might want to hurry on getting it.

For every "MAGA is like the Nazis but dumber", a reminder that the Nazis were far dumber and more incompetent and terrible at actually governing than you were lead to believe by their movie portrayals. https://www.newsweek.com/hitler-incompetent-lazy-nazi-government-clown-show-opinion-1408136

Hey y'all, apparently Elon is on the Fediverse and likes me!
Yup, be jealous. I'm sure he's going to give me a billion dollars to be his friend, he just needs me to help him move some of his wealth out of South Africa for a "handling fee".
