I've never been a drug user. I don't really drink any more, but always limited myself to one or two at a time.

I've had one experience with powerful pain meds, and I tried a pot gummy once in NYC. Turns out, with the gummy, I'm a lightweight lol

I've been taking ambien a bit to help me sleep, because it was getting bad. I hadn't taken in a few nights, but the previous night had been rough, sleep wise, so I took one last night.

In my admittedly limited experience with drugs of any sort I've noticed something...

There is still a part of my mind that is stone sober. That part recognizes that the text is not, in fact, moving. And the statue of a monkey is not moving, either.

However, that part is a Grandpa, and the main part of my brain is a bunch of grandkids. They're running away doing all sorts of crap, and Gramps finally wanders up and says, "no no, that's not right." But it takes him a minute to get there.

So I was working on a project last might before I went to bed. I kept seeing movement out the corner of my eye.

About the time I was looking at the screen and kind wowed by the text on it seeming to float a bit, I was looking over and wondered if what I was seeing was this little monkey statue moving.

That’s when the sober part of my brain finally caught up and told me the ambien had kicked in and I should go to bed.

And yep, slurp did the trick. Much cleaner than my version, too.

Hats off to
@vyr@princess.industries for a great tool

Since I have a #gotosocial server set up, I'm going to move my #bot over to it, and create new ones there, too.

I know how to migrate the existing account to a new server. But I also know it won't copy the posts.

There are some tools to copy them, but the ones I've seen create new ones.

Is there an existing tool that will insert them into the DB with the original timestamps? Since I own the server, may as well.

Or is that a bad idea?

I may or may not have just pushed to a repo I named "robotooter"

And I have, in fact, said it out loud. Not with a straight face, but still

Since I have #bots on the brain, and asking for opinions about it, I'm thinking about how annoying it would be to have one that just trolls the Fediverse for posts asking if anyone has an opinion about something, and just responding, "No, I have no thoughts on the matter."

Again, opinion appreciated. I obviously have my thoughts, but I'm curious if others would like to chime in.

Question 3: Programming

Do something like, post a book at a time, then switch authors?

Do an entire author's catalog before moving on? So, all of Doyle's Sherlock stories first, then maybe Dumas?

Or, Mystery Mondays, Adventure Wednesday...

Question1: Post length.

Chapters in A Study in Scarlet (the first Holmes book) are about 15-20K characters. Even in 1,000 character chunks that's 15-20 threaded posts for a chapter.

Do you think just go with it, or split longer chapters over multiple days? So, 8-10 posts in a thread, splitting chapters over 2 days.

Question 2: Frequency

Leaving aside splitting chapters, how often do you think I should have it post?

Every day? Chapter a week?
