Dear anti-AI folk: I hear you, but, please please please, complain about lacking laws and regulations, complain about the specific things you don't like, because being "against AI" is tone deaf, it doesn't arrive and it's too generic to act upon. Whether #AI is here to stay I cannot predict, but in either case it's the boundaries we set right now that will be important for the coming decades/eons, so to actually exert control don't be against AI, be against lack of regulation and control thereof
I just had to upload this myself so I could pin it.
I think it's a really important message beyond just the fact that computers and networks are an amazing gift to society, I think it's equally or more important to note that conformity is a curse.
We should all be able to have our own opinions and ways to view the world, without being resented for it, without being cast out for it.
It's diversity and inclusion that make this world a greater place; not some narrative that disagreement is wrong
Old pinned picture from my old (now abandoned) twitter that I really wanted to keep here.
Tried my best to fit all the sayings and remarks in the alt text, but had to cut some of it to fit in 1500 characters (all the sayings should be in there though).
it's the pinout of an AM4 CPU. Note how many ground and voltage pins there are, and also how the CPU has USB pins and even SATA pins built-in.
it'll never not be funny to me that we still call these things CPUs even though it doesn't just contain the entire northbridge (memory controller), but also parts of the southbridge (USB, Sata), and even sometimes a GPU, as well as an entire ARM core dedicated to management and security processes.
i can't believe how many people are flocking to closed source chrome forks like Vivaldi in the light of Firefox's AI stuff, when stuff like Waterfox is right there
For the record, Waterfox has said not to use AI: https://www.waterfox.com/support/ai-chatbot/ "Waterfox does not include a builtβin AI chatbot integration. If you want AI assistance in the browser, you can install a compatible extension from Firefox Add-ons."
if you want to actually keep using Firefox and not some closed source Chrome fork, try Waterfox
Hmm, according to my measurements I should be easily able to add two more panels to my carport. But 97β¬ shipping + 2x 50β¬ panels seems like a bad deal. .. I wonder if they'd fit in the Leaf
IMHO that some people feel more heard talking to an LLM than to people, says more about society than LLMs.
I don't think it's a funny gotcha to make fun of these people. The real question you should be asking is why there's nobody there for them to just talk like that.
If an LLM helps them, then that's entirely cool. Mental health is fucked up, we don't need to make fun of people that have it tough, go fucking help them or something if you're such a moral philanthropist? Laughing won't help π€·
