If you're on a Mastodon server that needs to have the highest level of user safety, you might want to talk to your admin about whether they should activate "limited federation mode".

This mode prioritises safety over connectivity, and means a server manually chooses which servers it allows federation with, while blocking all the rest by default. More info at:

(Its main disadvantage is it's a lot harder to follow accounts on other servers.)

I can see how this could be useful when using the instance as "intranet"

But otherwise it would make it a "antisocial media"

It's an option that is there for those who want or need to use it. No one is being forced to use it, and the vast majority of servers don't use it.

It's just meant to give people the tools they need for their particular situation.

No worries! I wasn't really aiming at the messenger here!
🤗🤗

It's a completely logical setting to have (I mean, it would probably be more of a hassle to actively exclude the possibility, so no real need to bother about it... ish)

Although, I
am somewhat curious about what it will be used for by those who find it useful... 🙃🙃😅😅
