I have a problem with all those "track your reading" systems.
They do not have books in Polish. Or handle one language. Or do not have a way to link book in one language to the same book in other language.
Which mean that with each book I read, I need to enter all details just to be able to mark "I read that". And if there are no other users reading in Polish, then it is just a list with not needed work.

Does BookWyrm allow you to enter multiple reading dates for books? Like of you read a book multiple times?
@FediTips@social.growyourown.services I haven't been able to find any documentation showing what the interface looks like - important factor to decide if I'll join a server. Can anyone here link to like a tutorial video or screenshots?

Is there a Canadian-based server with good reliability, or if not, an EU one?
I’m really trying to avoid US based or US storage.
@FediTips@social.growyourown.services Für die deutschsprachigen Nutzer:innen empfehle ich ja https://bookwyrm.de/ 😉

I signed up on http://bookwyrm.world since it's a general purpose instance that isn't the flagship
Only have myself as a follower so I can just log everything there and then boost anything interesting to others.
@FediTips@social.growyourown.services Lectura.social is a good instance in Spanish :-)
@FediTips@social.growyourown.services
But has no author component
@thechrisdantes@social.linux.pizza @FediTips@social.growyourown.services Yes you can - the button that says 'Read', click the dropdown arrow next to it then select 'Start Reading'.
Alternatively, you can manually enter more read dates on the book page under Your Reading Activity click 'Add read dates'.
@thechrisdantes@social.linux.pizza
Not as far as I can tell, it seems to just have one set of dates for each book.

https://bookrastinating.com is apparently hosted in Finland.
https://ramblingreaders.org is hosted in Denmark (server), UK (email) and US (server monitoring).

I'm not sure what you mean?
@FediTips@social.growyourown.services
Ok. Thanks.

So ... as much as I hate that Amazon runs GoodReads, they have a specific section for authors to blog, engage with readers, and link their books. They have created a full-spectrum platform
Bookwyrm caters only to the reader, and has no similar author features.
@screwturn@mastodon.social
These aren't deliberate design decisions by BookWyrm, they're doing what they can with the resources they have. It's made by volunteers who depend on donations from users.
You can still set up an account and engage with people, it just wouldn't be designated as a separate section?
