@FediTips@social.growyourown.services There is also quoting by pasting the link to the post which Mastodon treats as a quote (which can stay after deleting the link). This allows e.g. replying with a quote of another reply.

I hope there will be more software support for this kind of quotes, they are much more readable than Mastodon's handling of link previews.

There is already a quote button on replies anyway, I'm not sure why pasting the link would be better/easier?

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services Threading. As far as I see, the button creates a top-most post, I don't know how to make a reply not by using the reply button.

So for example, I can reply to your one post and quote another. Not a practical example here, but I often see posts where others ask the same question and the original author could quote one reply when replying to the others.
