I've generally steered clear of politicians, but I've tried to list institutional government accounts. I've only got a couple listed for the US (https://fedi.directory/tag/us-government-and-public-bodies/) but there are a lot more listed for other countries (https://fedi.directory/tag/government/).
The US is getting complicated though as its federal institutional accounts are now being used almost entirely for political disinformation by the Trump administration, so I would not list those.
