I am unabashedly curious about everything. Wandering the hills of western Massachusetts (π
USA) with my canine companion Sadie.

The most important pin for this new instance β¦ #SunshineSadie!

Okay β¦ so β¦ new instance and I guess I need a new #introduction?
Accomplishments Iβm most proud of: Raising my daughter (as a single mom) to be a fierce, loving, and much more competent and functional adult than I have been; Founding and managing a successful farmerβs market in the early 2000s that is still running today; Completing a masterβs degree (MSci) in my 50s and after being accepted to a PhD program at the University of Oregon, dropping out because it was not the right choice for me.
Moves: I just completed my 54th lifetime move (perhaps the last move but I wonβt hold my breath because itβs uncomfortable); Iβve lived in New York, Massachusetts, Montanaβ£
οΈ, Oregon, New Mexico, Washington; I've traveled cross county 7 times and I was homeless for a few years but it took me a while to realize it.
Jobs: so so so many, including: tech writer, crisis counselor, waitress, communications manager, college professor, massage therapist, bookseller, executive assistant, project manager, legal assistant, goat cheese maker, pre-school special ed teacher, tarot reader, editor, book reviewer β¦ I contain multitudes! Now enjoying every single day of retirement with the option to choose to do (or not do) what I want!
Misc: Iβm living on unceded land of the Muh-he-conneok; I am kakotheres (unfit for enduring summer); Iβm a late-diagnosed autistic elder; I love speculative fiction, long rambling strolls, words and meaning-making.
My wishes for a better, kinder, peaceful, joyful 2026 for us all!

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services have you posted a list of govt officials on the fedi? eg @SeanCasten@mastodon.social for the US?
#scribesandmakers August 6 Create a poll with two games (video, board, ttrpg, sport, etc) you like to play and one you don't. Ask people to guess the one you don't.
Okay friends - which game don't I like:
#scribesandmakers August 7 Reveal the game you don't like and tell us what you don't like about it.
Monopoly. I won't play it now and even as a kid it felt like it brought out the worst in other people. The sister who was the most vicious and money grubbing when we played as kids is absolutely like that as an adult.
I love London Cabbie - my ex-in-laws were board game fanatics and this was much more enjoyable to play with them than scrabble. My father-in-law grew up in Ashby-de-la-Zouch in England before he immigrated to the US. He had some unusual games in his repertoire.
From Kelly Hayes:
"... As #authoritarianism intensifies in the U.S., we often hear calls to βsave #democracy.β But one of the problems with that framing is that many people donβt feel they have a meaningful relationship with democracy.
The participatory nature of a public assembly can allow people to create democratic experiences, hear each other out, and begin to solve problems together. I think this is going to be an essential organizing tactic in the coming months and years ..."
