It's very easy to discover and follow PeerTube accounts & channels from Mastodon:

1. Go to a PeerTube site (e.g.
https://fedi.video )
2. On the account or channel you want to follow, click ⧉. This copies its Fediverse address.
3. Paste the Fediverse address into the search box in Mastodon etc. This makes the profile appear within Mastodon and you can just click "Follow".

To easily and safely discover high quality PeerTube stuff, have a look at

p.s. After you follow a PeerTube account or channel, its latest videos will start showing up as posts in your Mastodon etc timeline just like any other post.

You can comment on a video by just replying to the post it showed up in. The replies in Mastodon automatically turn into comments below the video in PeerTube.

You can like a video by just
⭐⭐ favouriting the post it showed up in. The favourites in Mastodon automatically turn into thumbs up on the video in PeerTube.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services There's one problem: Mastodon doesn't show the description of the PeerTube video, only the title.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services I’m just a user but I can’t seem to find anyone I want to watch on PeerTube when I search in it. I see videos here on mastodon that I like and search for that content and get nothing. Am I missing something? For example I can’t find anyone submedia content and I know it exists on peer tube along with many other related projects. Also I think I may have created an account with PeerTube in its beta that isn’t connected to my mastodon account. Help ! I’m not ebven an old you tuber so I’m not even wired for YouTubes universe. Meaning I don’t have tech bias just ignorance I’m pretty sure

What exactly are you looking for?

Have you tried browsing and searching on
https://fedi.video?

If you are okay with a broader but less safe search, have you tried searching
https://sepiasearch.org?

To find your PeerTube account you would have to know which PeerTube server you signed up on. You don't really need a PeerTube account if you just want to watch and comment on videos though, as you can do that from Mastodon etc.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services thank you. Sepia worked. Fedi video does the same as the app. Example, when I search for submedia.tv I get nothing. When I search in sepia it opens up to Submedias video collection

Don't use the PeerTube app, it's been highly restricted due to Google & Apple's app store rules. It's not the developers' fault, they have to obey the rules if they want it listed. Apple and Google are basically holding app developers responsible for whatever is on instances, which is impossible as anyone can create an instance.

If you use PeerTube servers' websites and web apps (
https://fedi.tips/how-to-install-web-apps-for-mastodon-and-the-fediverse/) you'll get all the features with no restrictions.
