For technical reasons, a profile may sometimes look blank if no one on your server follows it.
To see the most complete and updated version of a profile, you can check its "original page". This is the original version of the profile hosted on its server.
You can usually view a profile's original page by clicking ⋯ on the profile, then "Open in browser" or "Open original page".
Original pages also have lots of other uses, more info in the guide at:

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services my mastodon app very often is blank white. Started using my browser to see something, there the contend loads.
p.s. This problem of unfollowed accounts sometimes looking blank is being worked on. People into the techy side of software development can see the relevant pull requests here:
https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/34595
https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/34597
If these are merged into Mastodon's software, profiles would look the same for everyone.
A similar feature has already been merged for discussion threads, the next version of Mastodon (v.4.5.0) will automatically fetch replies so threads look the same for everyone.
@FediTips@social.growyourown.services I probably can't find where I read it but I had thought they had already fixed the thread issue (obviously that's not the case). I'm looking forward to that.

Yes, they fixed the threads a while ago, but it can take a few months to test fixes and make sure they don't do anything unexpected 🙂
Once they've tested it enough, it gets into the release version.
The actual release of the fix will happen in the next version (v4.5.0).
