If these are merged into Mastodon's software, profiles would look the same for everyone.

A similar feature has already been merged for discussion threads, the next version of Mastodon (v.4.5.0) will automatically fetch replies so threads look the same for everyone.

Yes, they fixed the threads a while ago, but it can take a few months to test fixes and make sure they don't do anything unexpected 🙂 Once they've tested it enough, it gets into the release version.

The actual release of the fix will happen in the next version (v4.5.0).
