Are the differences in the boosts/likes between the two due to how far my instance has federated? The higher numbers version are looking at the toot in an external browser, the smaller numbers version is looking while logged into my instance and via an app (Ice Cubes).
No malice toward my instance is intended.

It's not a bug; it's because many accounts haven't arrived in your instance yet, so they're invisible to you. I often click on posts in the original instance to read the comments, because most of them don't appear in my instance.

By the way, this is due to be fixed in the next version of Mastodon (v4.5.0) which will automatically fetch replies to threads from the original instance. Threads will look the same on all instances (with exception of blocked accounts of course).
