Trying out some glass mount antennae for my car. The mag mounts work (and I have very good antennae on them) but water intrusion is a constant threat and I can't trunk lip mount anywhere near the top of my car

All this so I can listen to my scanner in the car, hell I don't even have permanent ham gear in my car

I'll probably keep the mag mounts in my car for any "mission critical" stuff I need to do (like public service events) but for daily driver the glass mount should work fine (I hope)

@farewell_ladmin@infosec.exchange I used a decent glass mounted antenna on an older car of mine, but for HAM use, some of the MFJ models had HUGE couplings that were fairly ugly.

For my scanner, I got a "Y" adapter for the car's built in aerial, since botht the car radio and scanner were RX only.

@farewell_ladmin@infosec.exchange best part of having the car's existing radio antenna double as my scanner antenna? stealth.

@kajer@infosec.exchange I have a sharkfin on mine, I'd probably get some use out of it but given that I scan stuff from 136 all the way up to 900 I doubt it would get everything

I picked up the Tram glass mounts, they're fairly non bulky but we'll see how they work compared to my incredibly overkill tri-band mag mounted antennae
