Something that occurred to me recently - the Religious Right base their principles on The Bible, so they say. But it is not The Bible - the original Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic writing translated into a language we can understand.

Their bible is one version, one translation: usually the KJV.

So arguing that a passage is a terrible translation is pointless. They don't care. Their Holy Writ is the instruction book that is the KJV. Any words in that are True.

One reason I loathe this version.

@SteveClough@metalhead.club Many have moved onto NIV, but regardless. No matter which translation, if you were dealing with a person who wanted to take a forthright and honest look at what their scriptures say and how they should use it in the world, there's no end of ways to show them supporting the far Right is in any way justified by the Bible.
