The contorting on @upgrade@relayfm.social to defend Tim Cook like he's a poor boy who doesn't have a choice but to obey and be friends with President Trump is disgusting enough.

But the cherry on top was when I heard those two white men explaining to queer and POC employees at Apple that they should be glad their CEO hasn't cut DEI or implemented discriminatory measures like Disney.

What in the actual fuck is wrong with you?

@nileane@nileane.fr Yeah. I heard it live, and it made me angry enough to actually pay for a membership just to be able to say that comment about queer employees. Glad they picked it up, but disappointed how they dismissed it.
It’s true, Apple is still better than others (no change in DEI policies, still releasing products themed with queer flag colors), but that’s a low, low bar.

@nileane@nileane.fr In the chat, people said that if Cook resisted more, he‘d get fired and replaced by someone more in line with Trump‘s regime, so this is actually the best he can do. If that‘s realistic, I guess that’s a good argument? But I have no idea if it is.

@fi@chaos.social IMO it's always easy to defend the worst actions with a series of what ifs.
No one knows how another CEO would react and behave. What we know for sure though is that Tim Cook doesn't have to be a Trump supporter.
