Me: Yeah, just other forms of abuse (half jokingly; she yells often and very occasionally smacks/slaps us {us = my siblings and i})
Mom: It's not abuse, corporal punishment is allowed
Me: Name one form of corporal punishment that wouldn't be counted as abuse if done to an adult
Mom: Well it doesn't count as abuse because it's being done to a child because then it's corporal punishment
My genuine reaction:

Then she tries to shift the blame over to the government like "well if you wanna change it go call the senators" like no mom, (well, technically yes; I will definitely be calling them about that) why should literal abuse be passed off as "corporal punishment" or "disciplining" IT'S FUCKING ABUSE GODDAMMIT!

@hashcube like, my parents never hit or spanked me or my brother, even while it was legal to do so, because they were both spanked as kids and they know it doesn't work, and they know what kind of fucked up shit it does to your head. it causes your kid physical pain for no benefit at all, with a shitload of negative effects.

like..... what an abysmal fucking argument. "i will strike my kids until the government makes it illegal" is deranged shit.
