Just got 16 gigs of ram for my laptop and it definitely rebuilds faster. Super glad nothing broke when I edited my swap partition to be bigger

since the laptop is so weak, I'm having to use neovim and the git cli instead of Zed Editor and it's low key kind of awesome. Like I have my entire workflow in a terminal and it's kind of cool. I could technically do this over ssh if I really wanted to

My genuine reaction:

Then she tries to shift the blame over to the government like "well if you wanna change it go call the senators" like no mom, (well, technically yes; I will definitely be calling them about that) why should literal abuse be passed off as "corporal punishment" or "disciplining" IT'S FUCKING ABUSE GODDAMMIT!

laptop day 2: I actually got NixOS installed with my configs. I still need to get some modules enabled and then built, but we'll be good soon. I think I might just have to deal with building on the laptop because the ssh transfer speeds are abysmally slow. I'll run a build overnight and pray that my build doesn't fail

or maybe not??? I just specified my user in the build host and it recognized my password. I hope that the thing that happened earlier doesn't happen again

ok I did --build-host on my laptop because my root password isn't getting registered on my desktop computer and it seems to be working. there are little spikes of lag, but not as much as when I didn't have --build-host sooooooo... 🤷‍♀️
