Howdy! My name is Hoot, a.k.a. Stryx, Hoot_OS, Amity, et al.
I'm a queer & disabled activist from rural Saskatchewan, Canada who launched a queer movement from scratch in my hometown.
I'm also music producer, 3D artist, graphic designer, broadcast engineer and livestreamer. I'm making Dollshape, a traumacore multimedia vocaloid project featuring Kasane Teto in doll form.
I might also be known for my punk remix of Antonymph by Vylet Pony, which is probably my most popular project to date. I'm also known in the sim racing community as Stryx or Amity, depending on whether I'm broadcasting/commentating a race or participating in one.

one of my best friends, RadNat, passed away over the winter from sarcoma. she was one of the most important people I've ever met in my life. Her quick wit, determination and sheer audacity to do whatever the fuck she wanted to do influenced me to do the same. Her tenacity inspired me to do the same, and that ended up with me and a friend local to me creating a queer mutual support group - the first in my hometown's history.
miss you so much nat. i know you'd be proud of all the things i've done so far, but you haven't seen anything yet. i'm just getting started. love you so much. <3

wanna be clear to others reading my venting: if you sing poorly, i love it and love you for singing in the first place. nobody needs to be even close to the note to sing along and have fun. however, my dad is a narcissist who thinks he's god's miracle. he made fun of my music, but acts like he hadn't played Singstar and accused the game of being "broken" when he listened back to his singing and it sucked as bad as it did.
I love people who sing badly. I hate people who sing badly then think they can bully my singing, ESPECIALLY when a well-known guitar pedal builder who built pedals for bands like FUCKING ZZ TOP or NINE INCH NAILS actually asked me sincerely if i used fucking autotune.

the majority will very likely treat me the same as my hometown does, but i'm interested in seeing what the loud minority make themselves out to be. not interested in the way that i want to have that happen to me, but interested in the way that if it DOES happen, how does it happen and what are the things that piss them off enough to confront me?
idk! it's a different social dynamic, being in a big city. i wanna see what's different and what's the same.
(i guarantee the "rural v urban divide" is made up bullshit, and it only exists because rural right-wing voters can't get their heads out of their asses for long enough to smell fresh air for once. i speak from experience on this.)
i'm so interesting in learning how a big city is different from my hometown. eventually i'll get moved up there (when landlords stop acting like cunts (challenge level impossible)) and i really wanna see how differently i'm treated.
the few interactions with retail employees I've had were very pleasant, but the meat is in the general public. i've heard capital T "Things" about Regina's citizenship, so i'm really intrigued to see if the difference is what i think it is
context: i have no teeth and no dentures. people have treated me with kindness and respect despite looking twice my age and wearing a battle jacket, which unreasonable people could make assumptions from. no one has done that in my hometown (that i've noticed) but i've heard some people get BIG mad about people they perceive as "too weird" in public in Regina, so i really wanna see what kinds of people pull that shit lol
