I really wanted to prove my dad wrong. "You should become an engineer or something!"

No, I can be successful with a Bachelor of arts!

@stephanie@ottawa.place I have a Bachelor in Engineering (in IT) and yet… I also fear for my job because of AI.

The important and number one thing is that you paved your own path.

Maybe I should become a flight attendant or something, and just travel by way of working.

@stephanie@ottawa.place Being highly fluent in both official languages in Ottawa means you'll be fine. You may not end up where you expected, but there will be no shortage of work for you.

@stephanie@ottawa.place I often think of something my daughter told me when she started university: her β€œedge” over many of the others in her science program was that SHE made the choice to be there-not us, her parents, unlike so many of her classmates.

I've done more with my BA than any pigeon-holed engineer, or professional. It's your dad who is the disappointment.
