Andre LouisUsing a Rode Wireless Pro microphone which I magnetically attached to the cabin ceiling speaker, I captured some of the mandatory announcements that you hear at some point during the afternoon.
I'm aboard MSC Seaside cruise ship, and there are speakers in all cabins, hallways and even the bathrooms.

Andre LouisSome people had asked me to capture the full safety video from channel 1, so I've done that. It's audio-only. I connected my Zoom H1 Essential to the TV via a patch cable.

For this recording, I mounted a set of Sound Professional MSC-BMC-3 microphones to the Meta Ray-Ban glasses, and captured the sound with a Zoom H1 Essential recorder.

Andre Louis@KyleBorah@mastodon.social It is, yeah. MacWhisper even picked it up as such and wrote that in the transcript which I thought was cool. It didn't write out the words, but it wrote the fact that it noticed Italian.
Andre Louis@JamminJerry@mastodon.stickbear.me The thing was so loud, it clipped internally. The Rode records at 32-bit float like our zoom recorders, so any clipping/distortion you hear is before the microphone even gets it, unless it's louder than the microphone can actually record, but I'm not sure about that.

@FreakyFwoof@universeodon.com @KyleBorah@mastodon.social If you presented the Italian section only to Whisper, and set the primary language to Italian, and told it to translate to English, it would. I have had Whisper transcribe some Portuguese recordings very successfully.
