An Ontario woman who was visiting a friend in Florida was hospitalized for two weeks after suffering a cardiac arrest, and while she had travel medical insurance, she was shocked to learn that a year later, her claim was denied and she’s on the hook for more than $290,000.

I am so sorry for this poor woman and the predicament she is in.
I hope she can just ignore the bill and never come to America again.

This is America, land of the sick.

@maddad@mastodon.world It's something to experience. Plus, you get like 15 or more bills from this provider and that provider.

My wife's Penny's August 2024 heart attack medical bills are in excess of half a million dollars now.

Her ambulance ride alone from home to the rural Band-Aid and boo boo hospital 15 miles away was $2200, and her second ambulance ride to the university hospital, less than 20 minutes later, by road not air 75 miles, was $12,000.

Our health care system has always been a gong show for regular people.
It's so bad now that I think I might have to decide whether to go medical assist in dying if I go too sick.
