A lot of noise in Drupal is large agencies chasing after big clients, which means following the latest trends in the echo chamber that is LinkedIn. At its core, Drupal still is great at organizing websites with structured data.*

My hope is that this will turn out to be like Headless Drupal: the "latest and greatest" must-have technology to bring in new clients, but is 100% not required for a good website.

Yes, it will sap developer time from more useful work, but at least they're not forcing you to use it.

Whether or not that will remain the case indefinitely is a question.

* The question of whether the internet still values structured, persistent, dependable data remains to be seen. This seems to me to be the bigger long-term threat to Drupal than AI.

Too much of the internet seems to be ephemeral: entertainment of the moment, a place to dump info too long to fit in social media, or clickbait for advertising.
