...I am not an expert on #MediaWiki installations, but I am suspecting that seeing the same update screen without changes for 15 minutes on a rather small wiki is not a good sign.

Did you run the update.php manually on the server?

Did you update MW and SMW from latest versions or with a big step between the versions?

Yeah, I did run update.php manually.

...but I just realized that I am using MediaWiki 1.44.0 (i.e. the latest version), and there is no SMW version for that yet.

I guess I found my problem.

Yes, SMW 5.1.0 does not fully support running on MW 1.44, but installation should work either (at least it was no problem for me).

However, if you encounter problems during update, you should disable (all|any|single) extensions and enable them step by step again. Sometimes, there are some breaking changes and/or you need to adapt something in LocalSettings.php . Since any installation is different in terms of configuration and extentions, it's hard to support.

Addendum: When I run update.php, I get the following messages during "Supplement jobs" (i.e. the part that the website doesn't get out of). This does seem rather different from how this part is supposed to go, such as described here:

This indeed is related to some errors in SMW extention. Maybe you did a big update step here jumping from very low version to latest (related to database/SQL)? For me such error never occured during last updates by making small update steps...

For the record, the MW 1.44 version was a clean, new install.
