Brains are funny sometimes, like you can stare at a website and just completely not notice some part of the UI - like a link you're looking for, even though it's right there

UI/UX sometimes feels like it suffers from the same design group-think that led to that "open floor designs are great and is what everybody wants!" effect.

If anyone needs to touch grass more often in due course of furthering their craft, its the digital landscapers :-)

edit: we all need to touch more grass these days, not to pick on any one craft or group of folks :-)

edit2: And I'd still be using scrolling marquees in my designs if left to my own devices, so I'm no judge on what's good design...

@JenMsft@mastodon.social I've got this problem constantly with the modern Windows Alt+Tab switcher. Very often I simply don't see one of the (usually) browser windows that I know are there, simply because it looks slightly different than what my brain expects.
I was using the classic Alt+Tab switcher where I didn't have these problems (since it just had icons that always stayed the same, and were much larger), but it got removed in 24H2 for some reason.

@jernej__s@infosec.exchange Have you tried using the window walker in PowerToys run?

@JenMsft@mastodon.social No, but they don't look like they'd help (I use my mouse to trigger the Alt+Tab dialog box).

I did try a few alternative window switchers, but they all seem to be made to emulate MacOS behaviour (Alt+Tab switches between processes, and a different hotkey is needed to switch between windows in the same process).
