When will the public learn that petitions never work? Writing to your MP is way more effective.

@anon_opin@mastodon.social I'm not at all sure this is true. No one petition results in a change of policy, but they are indication to politicians of the political weather, and policy in influenced by that. Whereas letters to my MPs get robotic sounding replies, and these days are probably generated by an LLM anyway.

Absolutely fucking useless.

Not that I'm saying petitions help either.

Not even sure protests cut the mustard either these days.

I'm sure there's a next logical step but not something anyone feels comfortable acknowledging.
