Totally worth it though.

The upper lake of Plitvice national park in Croatia.

The sky is a deep blue with puffy white clouds. The water of the lake is a deep blue and green color and mountains covered in green forests surround the lake.

A few tree branches can be seen in the upper part of the picture.

Croatia, day 4: Zadar.

Ottoman vibes intensify.

A white courtyard with several pointed archways to the front and to the right.

Through the front archway, a small square tower can be seen with another pointed archway in the middle. A small blue flag can be seen, hanging from a window on the tower.

Croatia, day 5: Pakostane, Kornati islands.

You will have to take my word for it, but it was gorgeous.

I have acquired strange new superpowers: I now have a faint pinkish glow at night, and I can probably generate a faint amount of energy due to the heat of a thousand and one sunburns.

Croatia, day 6: road trip to Split. 🇭🇷

On the way to Split, walking the narrow streets of Trogir is quite an experience.

Fortunately, I am in the shade most of the time, so my sunburns don't get any worse...

An extremely narrow medieval street, surrounded by 2-3 stories stone buildings.

Laundry can be seen hanging from a clothes line. Most windows are shuttered.

At the very top, a very narrow sliver of blue sky can be seen.

Croatia, day 7: Split.

Interesting contrast between the old city, with its medieval streets and Roman buildings and the rest of the town, which is more of a very utilitarian socialist style.

And Saint Grgur of Nin is going to excommunicate your butt to Hvar and back if you make jokes about his name!

The statue is in dark bronze and represents a bearded man dressed in robes, holding a book in his left hand, his right hand raised to the sky, with a finger pointing up. He is looking at the book.

His expression is very stern and he looks like he is going to punish someone or cast divine retributions on unbelievers. This is in contrast with the funny hat on his head, which has a small episcopalian cross on top.
