We use a T-Mobile 5G wireless access point for internet access. I plopped it down on the kitchen counter when we moved in just to get things started and was surprised to find it hit nearly 500 MB/s in this random spot. After an extensive site survey including wandering the outside of the house with a ridiculously long extension cord, Iβve determined the best spot for the access point isβ¦ precisely there on the kitchen counter.
Now I just need to replace the dumb awkward power dongle with a shorter USB-C cable. Spouse will pop a wicker box or something over it and weβll call it a day lol
I had 1200 Mb/s symmetric service from AT&T fiber for all of three months at the old place, but in the neighborhood next to Apple Park, nope, no fiber. And Xfinity is a non-starter. Iβm pretty happy paying $50 a month for decent internet even if placing the access point correctly is a pain haha
Xfinityβs β5-Year Price Guaranteeβ isβ¦ worthless. It applies to precisely one plan, 400 Mbps internet (5 years) and 1 Xfinity Mobile Unlimited line (1 year), bundled whether you want them both or not. Taxes, fees, and other βapplicable chargesβ are extra and subject to change during and after the promo.
In other words, your base rate may be fixed, but they can add additional charges whenever and however they like. Kind of like how you get βunlimitedβ data but throttled after you use βtoo much,β yes, unlimited sponge squeezes when youβre dying of thirst, so generous.
βMany Comcast customer complaints center on unexpected price increases. Comcast's FAQ on price changes advises customers facing price increases that their bills rose because Comcast needs to invest in network upgrades, and that even promotional prices can rise because of changes to fees that are in addition to the base price.β

Yes I love my T-Mobile 5G Home Internet. T-Mobile promised a flat $50 a month and thatβs what they are charging. We pulled down 916.93GB last March and there were no complaints. 60 MB/sec is great.
My only complaint is the ethernet ports on the access point appear to be throttled. Or broken. They are absurdly slow, like 10 Mbps. Iβve gone through two different units, same result. So itβs all WiFi, all the time.
I just re-checked the ethernet ports. Theyβre fine, same speed. Alrighty then!
βTrust, but verify,β which, of course, means βDonβt trustβ lol
AT&T just left a door tag saying theyβre ready to install residential fiber to our new neighborhood! I hadnβt gotten around to cancelling the old plan or returning their equipment yet. Procrastination pays off I guess.
And, weβre back
