As someone who often conducts fieldwork in remote places, I find it really irritating that many applications now require an internet connection to function.

A pop-up window from Adobe Acrobat indicating that it cannot verify subscription status. It suggests checking the internet connection and provides options to "Quit Adobe Acrobat" or "Try Again." An error code (12014) is displayed along with a link to a for troubleshooting.

We have to be purposeful about ending the use of fossil fuels because they’re not going to end themselves anytime soon. While wind and solar are cheaper, they are not as profitable. Therein lies the problem.
