i'm a games programmer. i've been working on games professionally for about 9 years, unprofessionally since i was a middle schooler. some say i'm unprofessional to this day.
i'm into the rave scene, camping, piano, djing, cooking, anime, board games, and, most controversially of all, video games (gasp!!)

facebook keeps showing random red dots with numbers on their dating feature, but it only tells me to set up my profile when i click them. the settings page for the feature shows up blank. when i try to set it up (so i can turn it off), it ofc asks me for a bunch of info to fill out my dating profile.
so facebook's:
- adding fake notifications to entice me to go play with their dating bullshit
OR
- serving my profile to people on their service without my permission

i dont want to be on facebook, but the larger free / for sale community and queer housing groups for Seattle are on there

if you're scheduling something with someone or someone is scheduling something with you: date, time, your availability over a reasonably large time period should be the first words you exchange.
i have folks telling me "yeah we should hang!" and the conversation goes something like this:
me: "great! when are you free? i can do stuff pretty much any time after 5 PM most days"
them: "tuesday"
me: "ok, does 6 PM sound good?"
them: "oh that doesn't work for me"
me: "what about thursday at 6 PM?"
them: "sorry, busy then too"
tell me your availability and give me a day and time i said i'm available so we can move forward. don't make me guess and check every time on your schedule. it makes me feel like i'm the only one who cares about making it happen and it's really frustrating.
if you want to spend time with someone, put effort into finding a time with them. it's a two way street, and it takes all of a few words more to make the experience better for you both.

i applied to two teaching jobs for programming today... i have no idea if it's a good idea or not given you know recurring depression. but hey... maybe having some folks who care about the things i know will help lift my spirits.
i've felt more happy teaching more junior engineers stuff, and i've very happily tried to teach friends programming. i just want something that doesn't make me feel like shit when i'm doing my job.

im always confused that i've never found a vegetarian barbeque joint! mushrooms do well in an oven, and there's a lot to be done with soy, tempeh, vital wheat gluten. i dont think you'll ever get ribs, but brisket, pulled pork, and burnt ends i think are doable.
i've done so many blood draws between monitoring for lithium, spiro, and thyroid, that i now know the whole process by memory lol. i pre-empted everything my technician needed today, to the point where she was like "can yo- oh! thank you!"
