I'm not sure what to suggest, as there is no other way it can be in Home timelines other than follows, boosts and hashtags.

Has this happened for any other posts? If you could find one or more other posts where this happens, perhaps there might be something in common between them.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services OMG, this is embarrassing now: Apparently I didn't click on one of the short hashtags when checking if I follow (too big finger apparently 😜😜).
I found indeed one I follow when comparing with my list of followed hashtags again, where I didn't capitalise "cdl" (for a completely different topic).

I'm sorry for wasting your time, many thanks for your help! I'll be more aware the next time! 🙏🙏

You're not the only person to raise this topic. It would be useful if Mastodon had a label above each hashtag post saying which hashtag(s) caused it to appear in your timeline.
