Hereβs the response from the admin:
βWe are actually planning to disable the "live feeds" functionality on both mastodon.social and mastodon.online as it generally provides a poor method of discovering good posts and often has a lot of spam. (It's a new feature so we're testing it at the moment on mastodon.online.)β
My comment would be: Itβs interesting to say that removing something is a βnew feature.β

To be fair, mastodon.social is way way too large, not surprised that they find these features unmanageable π¦
The live feeds are designed for a decentralised network where people are spread out on lots of reasonably sized servers rather than a supergiant.
Hopefully this is just an option for an admin to switch them off if they want to rather than remove them from every server.
