@FediTips@social.growyourown.services are the original posters notified of quote boosts or not? I've asked specifically about Mastodon to Mastodon, and some answers said no. Some said yes. No one I talked with knew if it happens in one way or another in specific conditions.

Yes they are notified, they get a notification similar to what they would get if their post was boosted or favourited.
This is only if people are using the quote feature, it doesn't notify people if it's some unofficial method such as screenshots etc.
