Today is the 5th anniversary of the FediTips account πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

I started it because of the nasty stuff happening on centralised corporate social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc). These corporations promote "engagement" through algorithms that radicalise people into frenzies of bigoted hatred
😞😞

I'm trying to help people use alternatives instead of feeding the beast.

Here's a question for the Fediverse tipster:
I was recently suspended from an account on another server without contact other than a suspension notice. Now access to the account is unavailable.
My question: Do admins have the ability to issue warnings before turning off an account?
Also, can admins provide a reason for a suspensions? (In my case, none was given.)
I ask these things as a shocked person who hasn't been disciplined on social media before.
Thanks!

Admins have a range of things they can do including warnings or suspensions. They can provide a reason if they want to.

I can't really comment on why they might suspend someone without a reason, I don't know the server so I don't know what their policies are. Sorry!

Each server is totally independent so they may have very different policies.

Thank you, FediTips, for taking the time to respond to my post.
Mainly what I wanted to know was if admins have a range of options to choose from with "iffy" content.
I take it from your helpful response that they do.
