I don't know about other Mastodon clients or the default web interface, but at least Fedilab shows the "type" of the server the account is on on the profile view.

Yeah, some interfaces and apps indicate the server type, but most don't.

Whatever people use, they can check the server type by looking at the account's "original page" (
https://fedi.tips/what-are-original-pages-in-mastodon/).
