Yup! Basically, it's easier not to pay attention to numbers on here, they aren't considered important 🙂
There was concern from the developers and early users on here about how people were trying to "farm" numbers on Twitter, Instagram etc. By downplaying the numbers, it avoids encouraging lots of fake engagement. That's why you can't even see the numbers if you're just browsing your main timeline, to prevent them mattering so much.
