Isn’t at least part of the point of Mastodon and other Fedi services that individuals get choice in what they want to see and interact with? I’m not saying that Bluesky has made good choices here, but what impact will this make other than stopping people interacting with ordinary Bluesky users via gateways? Or are you saying that everyone on Bluesky supports the current US regime (which is probably fair enough to say about Truth Social for example) and it is proactive protection of a server community from harassment? I’m genuinely curious as to why you’re promoting the nuclear option…

No, the idea of defederation is to prevent hateful lies spreading and radicalising people on your server. It happens, I've seen it IRL.

You have the choice of which server you join or move to, or you can even set up your own.

But it's up to the owner of each server who it federates with, because the owner is responsible for the content of their server.
